33rd Belcanto Opera Festival ROSSINI IN WILDBAD 15-24 July 2022
A super-tenor-festival with impressive performances is ahead of us: Seven tenors are fighting for the favor of the sorceress in Armida. Four tenors are grouped around the furious heroine in Ermione and there are also two tenors in Adina. In addition there is an Offenbach short opera with a simple-minded vocal student (of course, like in the cliché, a tenor): Together, that makes 14 tenors !!! You will know some, but not all of them, and that's a good thing, as this has been what has made the festival so fascinating for many years: When Pavol Breslik made his debut at ROSSINI in 2001 or Michael Spyres in 2007, literally nobody knew them... It will certainly not only be a particularly complex, but also an exciting season in other respects, which places enormous demands on the organization. Because it is played non-stop every day in a shortened rhythm with several performances at one day. The operas can again take place in the venues again, where Rossini still sounds best, but three special outdoor events are planned on the Sommerberg mountain, including the Stabat mater on the huge wooden tower with the incredible 360° panorama and Mendelssohn Bartholdy's Midsummer Night's Dream at the Waldkonzert (concert in the forest), both with marvellous acoustics. For various reasons there will be fewer performances and therefore fewer tickets per opera. We invite you to book early and look forward to seeing you again at ROSSINI IN WILDBAD 2022.
Until then, stay vigilant and healthy!
