Note: in a first version a wrong text was printed here. Please accept  our apologies. Here is the real programme of the 2019 festival:

The 31st Belcanto Opera Festival ROSSINI in Wildbad  from 11-28 July 2019 includes 5 operas: two popular titles by Rossini as well as three works of his contemporaries and friends.

The tiny Royal Kurtheater, once re-opened with Dame Joan Sutherland as a patron, is the stage for Manuel Garcia's chamber opera I tre gobbi, a modern premiere, directed by Jochen Schönleber (a so-called semistage). After the huge success of Le cinesi of the same author in Barcelona, Florence and Wildbad, this new project with a libretto after Carlo Goldoni could be a funny interlude. As a production by the Academy BelCanto, the festival stages the farsa L'accademia di musica by Simon Mayr. Lorenzo Regazzo, the renowned bass and a native Venetian, is the director of this opera, which was written for Venice with venetian language and local jokes.  As a highlight of the program, there will be Rossini's magical Tancredi with a brillant young cast, conducted by Antonino Fogliani, directed by Jochen Schönleber, a production from Krakow, Poland.

Events in the bigger venue Trinkhalle include Rossini's  marvellous Corradino, Ironheart and Beauty  or Mathilde di Shabran, a full stage production (Roman version German premiere). The famous Rossini soprano Stefania Bonfadelli is directing and José Miguel Pérez-Sierra is conducting, Romilda e Costanza, the first Italian opera by Meyerbeer, written  under the influence of a Tancredi performance in the Rossini style for Venice but premiered in Padova1817 is a modern world première!!! The originally scheduled Le Philtre by Daniel-François-Esprit Auber and Emma di Resburgo had to be postponed to 2020/21. We apologize. All Rossini fans must be curious when a concert Rossini Alternativen celebrating the 30 years of Deutsche Rossini Gesellshaft will present unheard alternative arias for famous Rossini operas. ROSSINI IN WILDBAD offers more fine unknown opera music than ever. Do not miss the wonderful and unique atmosphere Ganz oben! for the opening concert.
